We absolutely love this modern kitchen renovation in Vancouver. Our homeowners spent countless hours preparing food, eating delicious meals, and socializing in their kitchen, but the space was dated, and not functional. We turned their old cramped kitchen into a cheerful family hub!
Let there be light: A modern kitchen renovation Vancouver
The first step to brightening this dark, dated kitchen was to enlarge the front window. From there we removed the kitchen peninsula and extended the kitchen into the front breakfast nook. This completely opened the space, creating better flow and adding storage space. New flat panel white cabinets were installed and extend to the ceiling for maximum storage capacity and a streamlined look. We used the homeowners existing stove, oven, dishwasher, and fridge, but added a larger new apron style sink in this modern kitchen renovation in Vancouver.
A unique feature of this reno was adding a built-in skinny spice cabinet. This new feature pulls out directly beside the oven for quick access and a creative storage solution for spices. White floating shelves were added with under shelf lighting, allowing the family to display their favourite cookbooks and store often-used cooking ingredients within easy reach. The kitchen is now much better lit with under cabinet lighting throughout the space and the removal of the fluorescent lights, replaced with led pot lights.
To add some dimension to the room, we used Grey Wisp from Benjamin Moore for the kitchen walls and added a grey subway tile back splash. The old kitchen tile floor was replaced with gorgeous Armstrong Vinyl Plank floors that extend into the dining and living rooms.
