As a family grows, they often outgrow their home.
Instead of moving, these homeowners decided to reconfigure their space with the help of My House Design/Build Team.
The result was so stunning that this project received a 2018 Georgie nomination for Best Residential Renovation under $100,000.
Kitchen Renovations Delta
Our homeowners’ existing kitchen was cramped and impacted their ability to entertain family and friends. To open the space, we removed the wall between the kitchen and dining area and moved the kitchen from the back/center of the house to the original dining room location, in the back corner. We also added a large kitchen peninsula, including built-in wine storage, with four bar seats for ample seating and a homework area. The new open concept floor plan brightens up the space and creates a more inviting area for family time.
The space was also brightened up with the addition of several pot lights and a new, natural colour palette that includes a touch of soft grey in the backsplash behind the stove. The existing brown walls were repainted in a more neutral Benjamin Moore, Revere Pewter.
To update the space, our team removed a dated brick fireplace facade and replaced it with a clean, transitional ledgestone. The mantle ties back into the new, grey-brown, vinyl cork plank flooring that stretches through the eating area and into the kitchen. New clean line mouldings and flooring were added throughout the main floor to allow for a seamless transition to parts of the home less touched by the renovation.
The family room and kitchen windows were replaced with double pane, energy-efficient windows. The new flooring is made of sustainable vinyl cork and provides sound absorbency and antibacterial properties. We also installed Energy Star appliances and upgraded to a more efficient gas fireplace.
