Modern Heirloom
This beautifully preserved heritage home had incredible bones and rich history but needed modern functionality and storage solutions to suit the needs of a young, growing family.
To maximize space, we lifted the entire house and dug out the basement, transforming it into a spacious, functional area with 8-foot ceilings—perfect for a new rec room that offers plenty of room to play and relax.

The heart of the home, the kitchen, was completely reimagined with a fresh and timeless design. Crisp white cabinets and a classic white subway tile backsplash create a bright and airy feel, while a striking blue island with a heritage-inspired butcher block countertop adds a pop of color and character. We thoughtfully designed a cozy storage and coffee nook under the stairs, maximizing space and functionality without compromising style. A charming farmhouse sink further enhances the kitchen’s vintage appeal.

To improve flow and functionality, we removed the wall between the kitchen and mudroom, creating an open, welcoming space that suits the dynamic lifestyle of this busy West Coast family. We also added a staircase leading to the newly renovated basement, seamlessly connecting the old with the new.

The bathroom was beautifully renovated with a perfect balance of modern style and heritage charm. We preserved the stunning stained glass window, maintaining the home’s historical character. A touch of boldness was added with graphic floor tiles, while a vintage vanity and antique fixtures kept the classic feel intact.

Throughout the renovation, we remained dedicated to preserving the home’s heritage charm by selecting finishes, fixtures, and flooring that honor its original character. The result is a beautifully modernized yet timeless home that perfectly blends history with contemporary living.
