IDS West is an annual interior design trade show in Vancouver that our design team looks forward to every year. It showcases the best in products and talent and never fails to inspire. This year My House Interior Designer Becky Runacres attended the opening night party to report back on her favourites.
“IDS West is my favourite industry event. Not only is it a fun time for designers to collaborate and display their talent’s but it’s also a great source of inspiration for upcoming projects. This year there were so many beautiful booths and products that I loved. For this blog post I’ve narrowed it down to my top 10, so here they are!

#10 Smeg Appliances
I’ve always been a huge fan of Smug Appliances, all that character and colour. If you’re planning a mid-century modern renovation, these appliances are a must. If the fridge is outside of your budget, they have a full line of small appliances that could truly add that splash of colour on your countertop.
#9 Superiore Matte Black Range
The next appliance line that stood out to me at IDS West is the Superiore 48” matte black DECO range with bronze trims. The stove alone could create such impactful drama in your kitchen. Imagine this in an industrial loft?! Thanks Euroline Appliances for featuring it!
#8 Marble Models
Cosentino Canada always provides a unique feature in their booth. Painted models to match their Eternal Marquina and Pearl Jasmine solid surface samples was a definite stand out.
#7 Forest Green
Yes forest green, right on trend! Forest green is definitely trending this year and I am loving it! I was obviously excited to see Quake furniture’s beautifully simplistic booth highlighting green with gold details. Want to be bold this year? Try deep green kitchen cabinets!
#6 Adult Playground
Every year the creativity that goes into Caeserstone’s booth never ceases to impress. I loved the fun and playful merry-go-round concept that featured their product in a completely unique way.
#5 Local Artisans
I am a huge supporter of local artists and entreperneurs. Three Corners Artisan hosted collaborated with Dana Moony Art to create a beautiful booth full of high quality product.
#4 The Pineapple Booth
This booth was fun, full of energy, and the perfect eclectic mix. Not to mention this booth truly represented the designer herself. Such a fun mix of materials that were loud, attention grabbing but calm all at the same time.
#3 Delightful Decor
If you don’t know Alison Kent personally, she is a creative genius. She puts her heart and soul into every piece she creates. All her work is meticulously designed and manufactured by local artisans using only the best fabrics and materials. My personal favorite is her beautiful throw pillows, they make the perfect addition to your home décor.
#2 Live Edge Masterpiece
The TRUNK II table designed by Philipp Manizer made the Living Space booth a magnet. I am a sucker for any natural wood creation and this single European walnut trunk top with a solid brass base was perfection.
#1 The Colourful Kohler Clawfoot
After IDS West’s opening party I scooted over to the new Kohler showroom for a party hosted by Floform and Caeserstone. And what an amazing tub I saw! Every design should be personalized to the client and I can’t wait to find a fun, full of energy, bold client that wants to use this tub in their home.
Peeps this rare appearance by my stage mom and My House’s Marketing Manager, Sarah. We see you!
